The Senate has approved a 90–day extension of surface transportation programs under unanimous consent. The House earlier in the day approved the bill. It will be signed into law by the President before the current extension expires March 31.
This latest extension, the ninth since SAFETEA-LU expired two and half years ago, runs through June 30. House Speaker Boehner said the House will consider a long-term reauthorization bill shortly after the House returns from a two-week recess the week of April 16th.
